Willmar Regional Cancer Center is pleased to welcome Hematologist-Oncologist, Joanne Monterroso, M.D. to its oncology team in Willmar.
Dr. Monterroso earned her Medical Degree from Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency with Michigan State University-Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies, and her Hematology Oncology Fellowship with Fletcher Allen Health Care, University of Vermont, Burlington, Vermont.
Dr. Monterroso will join Willmar Regional Cancer Center as a Hematologist-Oncologist in October. She is fluent in both Spanish and English. Dr. Monterroso is an associate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology.
A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and/or prevention of blood diseases and cancers such as iron-deficiency anemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease, leukemia and lymphoma. She is trained in hematology, the study of blood, and oncology, the study of cancer.
